Northridge Crossings: Emerging Trends and Innovations

Lately, the design world seems to be gravitating toward simplicity and functionality while playing with textures and materials to add a personal touch. The goal is to create a captivating space that feels modern, relevant, and can easily adapt to your changing needs, so you don’t have to recreate your home every time a new trend emerges.

This may sound like a challenging feat, but by making careful stylistic choices and being open to trying new things, it’s totally possible. We did it recently with our Northridge Crossings renovation.

In this article, we’ll explore the emerging trends and innovations in interior design to give you some ideas on how to incorporate them into your own home.

Minimalist Design

When you hear the term “minimalism,” white walls, sparse furnishings, and lack of decor may come to mind, but this isn’t necessarily the case for minimalist design. Think clean lines, a neutral color scheme, and natural materials.

Simplicity and functionality are key here. Minimalist design is meant to create a spacious, serene environment that lacks clutter and exudes sophistication.

Mixed Materials and Textures

Playing with materials and textures is a subtle way of adding character to your space without the clutter. Try exploring diverse materials, such as wood, glass, metal, and textiles, to enhance your home’s visual appeal.

Furnishings that use mixed materials, like a wooden chair with a fabric cushion, can transform an otherwise basic room into a tactile space, helping you create a sense of style that’s uniquely yours.

Adaptive Spaces

Since interior design is ever-changing, creating versatile and multifunctional designs is essential to maximizing your space. By using flexible layouts and innovative furniture that can easily be altered to accommodate various activities, your space will stay relevant and functional, even as your needs change.

Case Study: Northridge Crossings

We were tasked with renovating the Northridge Crossings apartments in Raleigh and incorporated these techniques into our design. By choosing versatile furnishings and decor consisting of clean lines and geometric shapes, we were able to create a captivating, minimalist space with an open, flexible layout that can be rearranged as needed.

The color scheme comprised mostly neutral shades of gray, white, and black with accent hues of red and gold to make the space feel new and fresh. We added texture throughout the room by using a combination of materials, from wicker to velvet, to enhance comfort and softness, creating a space that truly feels like home.
